What started as a spontaneous introduction orchestrated by best friends quickly became something more.
One date turned into two, and then three, all within the week before Stephanie moved back to Vancouver Island from Calgary. On the drive home, her dad, Tom, jokingly warned her that she might be leaving behind the guy she was supposed to end up with. They laughed it off at the time.
Very soon, they realized they had so much more to talk about. This realization turned into hours of phone calls, FaceTimes, and text messages. From mailed sweaters and baked goods to a surprise visit for Ryan’s birthday, simple “goodnights” turned into “I love yous.”
Six months was long enough, and Stephanie moved right back to Calgary. Road trips, shared adventures, quiet weekends, and countless little moments have continued to make up some of their most cherished memories. Somewhere between all the laughter, celebrations, and everyday moments, Stephanie and Ryan found home in each other.
Now, they are so excited to make it official surrounded by the most important people in their lives!

Yes, little ones are welcome, as long as they stay with a parent or guardian throughout the day.
Semi-formal attire. It’s an August afternoon by the sea, followed by a reception indoors. See the dress code section above for more details.
Tigh-Na-Mara is in Parksville on Vancouver Island. The closest airport is Nanaimo (YCD), about 30 minutes away. Victoria (YYJ) is about 2 hours away, and it’s a beautiful drive up the Island over the Malahat, with ocean views, small towns, and plenty of spots to stop for coffee along the way. You can also take BC Ferries to Nanaimo from Horseshoe Bay or Tsawwassen. We recommend reserving your sailing early, since August ferries fill up fast and nobody wants to spend their weekend in the lineup.
If you’re flying in, we recommend renting a car. Both airports have rental counters, and having a car makes it easy to get to the resort and explore the area. Summer is busy on the Island, so book your rental early.

If you’d prefer somewhere else, there are plenty of places to stay in Parksville and Qualicum Beach.
Yes, there’s parking on site at Tigh-Na-Mara. If you’ll be enjoying a drink with us, please plan a safe way home.
Please arrive between 2:00 and 2:15 PM. The ceremony begins at 2:30, and we’d love to have everyone settled before it starts.
We’re having an unplugged ceremony, so please keep phones and cameras tucked away until the ceremony is over. Our photographer will capture every moment, and we’d love for you to be fully present with us. Once we’ve walked back down the aisle, snap away. We can’t wait to see your favourites.

Whether you’re coming from down the road or across the country, we know you’re making the trip to celebrate with us, and for many of you, that means flights, ferries, hotel rooms, and rental cars, too. Your presence is truly the greatest gift, and we don’t expect anything more.
We won’t have a traditional registry, but since a few of you have asked, we’ve set up a fund toward our honeymoon and future home.
